AKRON, OH (October 22, 2019) – The Better Akron Fellows, a program of Heart to Heart Communications, recently launched its third cohort, this time focusing efforts on the Park East neighborhood of Akron.
The Better Akron Fellows is a collaborative program between Knight Foundation and Heart to Heart Communications to provide leadership development opportunities to twelve of Akron’s emerging civic leaders.
Participants go through a process of growing in self and other-awareness through storytelling and taking the Enneagram personality system to help them better understand what motivates them in leadership and service. Next is a site visit to a specific area of Akron followed by the Appreciative Inquiry process to discover, dream, design and deliver on ideas for how to make Akron even better.
As part of this year’s program, the organizations are partnering with Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition and Akron Civic Commons to make Park East in south Akron the neighborhood of focus. This year’s fellows include Park East residents who are interested in making a difference in their own community.
The group of twelve civic leaders will gather over the next three months and will present their learnings and ideas at a closing ceremony in December. This year’s participants are:
Crystal Ann Costa, Park East Community Volunteer
Annmarie Ford, Park East Community Volunteer
